Selected Weddings at Hillside Gardens in Colorado Springs

We’ve been shooting weddings at Hillside Gardens for over a decade, and we absolutely love capturing photographs there. The owners have created a veritable wonderland of eclectic art, lush greenery, and kooky antiques that make every day we shoot there a dream.

As most people are aware, Colorado Springs is a very dry, steppe-alpine environment. Our local climate is more likely to grow cacti and sage than lush flowers and leafy trees. Yes, somehow, through daily care and willpower, Hillside Gardens is an oasis of shade and green in a state where the sun beats down everywhere else over 300 days per year.

To have so many cool shady areas to photograph couples gives our images from Hillside Gardens a softer, almost dream-like quality. Granted, the surreal nature of the bar made out of a bus and the giant rooster statue help provide that otherworldly vibe, but much of it has to do with the eclectic layout of the gardens themselves.

The one warning we like our clients to prepare for with Hillside Gardens is there is no bad-weather back-up facility on site. Be prepared to be flexible, both in terms of schedule, but also expectations. Looking through our Hillside Gardens galleries below, you might not guess that nearly every single one of them had a downpour of rain at some point during the day. The reception pavilion is open air, so it really can’t provide adequate shelter as a back-up ceremony location. Happily, out of the dozens of weddings we’ve captured there, none have been literally “rain out”. Yes, we might have needed to pause and wait for 30 minutes here and there, but overall there really is not better open air garden wedding venue in the state.

We’ve collected some of our most recent weddings at Hillside Gardens to feature here. We hope you will consider us to photograph your wedding there!
