Silverthorne Pavilion:
Lauren & Drew

A rainy but stunning wedding at The Silverthorne Pavilion

Attentive visitor’s to this website might recognize that Lauren’s sister and bridesmaid, Kristen, was a past bride of ours. We love working with the same families again. When 1/2 the people in attendance are people we’ve worked with before, everything seems to be much easier. Everyone knows the drill.

Everyone except Colorado, that is. No, the only player not to do it’s part that day was the devilishly random weather state that is Colorado. It decided to rain all day. Which is a true bummer, especially at a venue like The Silverthorne Pavilion. Lauren was supposed to have had a sun-drenched outdoor wedding on the pavilion’s lawn, resplendent with flowers and the stunning mountain backdrop. No, instead everything got moved inside because of the rain. And while it was a bit cramped, and there weren’t any views at all, as the photography shows, there was no lack of emotion and beauty.

That’s really something all couples need to keep in mind. Yes, it’s nice when all the plans come to fruition and all the stars align and we get the wedding of our dreams. But when plans change and especially when weather rears it’s frustrating head, always remember that if you are truly excited to be marrying each other and in love, then it really doesn’t matter in the end how it happens or where it happens, it just matters that it happens!

And when you love each other as Lauren and Drew do, the emotions of the day help make it beautiful, no matter the setting.

Silverthorne Pavilion: A rustic wedding oasis in the middle of two mountain towns

When we first photographed a wedding at The Silverthorne Pavilion, all of the landscaping was brand new, and the trees and shrubs were just saplings and there weren’t really any blocked views of all the surrounding buildings and town. Many years later, everything has grown in a ton, and now the only views are of mountains and greenery, not buildings and houses. This makes Silverthorne Pavilion a super enticing venue for a mountain wedding. It has all the convenience of being in the middle of Silverthorne, surrounded by services and lodging, but has the look and feel of a secluded mountain ranch somewhere.

We really enjoy photographing weddings at the Silverthorne Pavilion. It’s the perfect, rustic, blank-canvas for a couple to put on medium-sized to fairly large weddings. And like nearly all of our High Country weddings, they tend to be super laid back and rowdy weddings, too.

Thank you, Lauren & Drew, for trusting us to capture these images from your amazing day. Sorry it rained, but it seemed to add it’s own special vibes to the day in terms of look and tone. Colorado is a wonderful, if not frustrating, artistic collaborator.
